Definition: Reverent or devout; outwardly (and sometime falsely) reverent or devout


The pious priest openly expressed his faith.

The disloyal man cheated on his girlfriend.

Definition: Making peace; attempting to solve a dispute through goodwill


The conciliatory efforts done by Goodwill are making a difference in the community.





Antonym: disharmonize


The loud electric guitar disharmonized the whole band.



5. Resignation

Definition: Reluctant acceptance of a bad situation


We accepted the bad news with resignation.





Antonym: deny


The girl denied stealing the cookie.



6. Resolute

Definition: Determined; firm; unwavering


His choice to go to college was resolute.





Antonym: indecisive


She was indecisive on what shirt to buy, so she bought both.



7. Servile

Definition: Submissive and subservient; like a servant


The little dog was acting servile to the bigger dog.

He was very communicative and could make friends with everyone.





10. Anarchy

Definition: Absence of government or control; lawlessness; disorder


Her room was in anarchy after she decided what to wear.

While taking a hike, she felt in harmony with nature.
